✽ El programa
Cuando la salud bucodental no debería depender de los recursos de cada familia
The Canary Islands Dental Foundation has signed agreements with the municipalities of Garachico, Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos, Icod de los Vinos, and El Tanque to ensure that socially vulnerable young people in these areas have real access to the dental care they need.
Municipal social services identify participants and provide ongoing follow-up, ensuring that no one is left without care due to economic or social barriers.
✽ Why it matters
Oral health as part of social inclusion
Untreated dental problems during adolescence go far beyond oral health: they affect self-esteem, nutrition, academic performance, and future employment opportunities.
For young people in vulnerable situations, dental care is often a low priority. This program exists precisely to change that, because at FUNDOCAN we believe health is a human condition, not a privilege.
✽ The process
How we reach those who need it most
A coordinated model between the foundation, municipalities, and local social services.
Municipal identification
Social services select young participants based on social vulnerability and treatment needs.
FUNDOCAN provides care
The young person receives dental treatment at one of our two clinics in Tenerife — Garachico or San Isidro — with personalized professional follow-up.
Social services follow up
The municipality monitors participation and progress, ensuring continuity and long-term results.

Each partner municipality has a formal agreement with FUNDOCAN that guarantees referral, follow-up, and continuity of care for selected young people through their social services departments.
Are you a municipality or social organization in northern Tenerife looking to join? We are open to expanding our agreements.
